Baking with Boocher

It's pretty simple; I love to bake. It's one of my happiest, earliest childhood memories with my mom and grandmother. I crave a dessert far more than potato chips or a glass of wine on a daily basis. And now, I'm determined to take my baking skills to a new level. I have no culinary school experience, but by baking my way through Claire Saffitz's fabulous book Dessert Person, I hope to gain more experience with techniques, knowledge and flavors. It's important to know I'm not trying to critique Claire's recipes; I'm simply using her book to become a better baker.

Like many others, I was excited to use Claire's cookbook (do you call a book about baking a cookbook?) to learn more about baking after watching her adventures on Bon Appetit's Gourmet Makes. Claire's attention to detail, precision and accuracy makes her an incredible baker and ultra professional in my opinion. She strives to use the best ingredients, and I know from watching her on YouTube that she has tested all these recipes more times than I can imagine (which is why I appreciate all the times it seems she's reading my mind when I'm wondering if something has the right consistency and she tells me what it should look like). I cannot fathom how much work it took to create Dessert Person, and I am excited to dive in and learn more from Claire!
